I am one of the main forces behind a wiki-project intended for the local phd-population. During the course of managing that, I discovered that it is quite a different procedure to add mouse-over text to the items in the side-bar than pretty much anywhere else on the site. Also, I was unable to google the problem. Hopefully this post will make that easier.
So, since installing Matlab 2011b on my Ubuntu 11.04, the fonts in my figures have been all terrible. More precisely, I haven’t been able to change their sizes (or styles).
So, in the hope that this will make it slightly more likely that google places it at the top of a search:

So, I agree right off the bat that this is an awfully specific problem to have. However, I had it, and a bit of googling revealed that so had several other people at various points in time.
So, when I discovered that Tikz and Beamer are made by one and the same guy (Till Tantau), I was very much pleased, since I then assumed that I could use the \onslide<> command inside tikzpictures (to make fancy equations, as hinted at in the title). It turns out that this is indeed the case, though complications arose in connections to this, and I thought I would document here how I went about it:
So, I have just spend a while struggling with understanding why my present TeXnicCenter installation won’t open files in Adobe Acrobat Reader X – it has, for years, worked on and off, with no apparent reason for being in either state.
